Poker
First off: Yes, luck is involved. That's why I lose. Betting strategy is also a key component. That's why I win. In the battle of my horrific luck and my above average cognitive abilities, luck is currently kicking my ass. But I do have high hopes that I can go an entire semester without needing to restock my play money account after going bankrupt on another flush draw.
Sudoku

Crosswords
I'm better here than I am at Scrabble, if only due to how I distanced myself from the documentary "Wordplay." And using software-based crosswords that tell me when I mess up a letter. Come on, newspapers! Invisible ink technology is here! Get on the bandwagon!

Ooh ... I got burned by that high-priced cardboard back in seventh grade ... If I had to buy my own cards, then I'd probably be pretty awful. If I got to fish through someone else's pile of unwanted or common cards, I'd probably be okay. I wonder if I can haggle a shoebox out of the nearest comic book store ...
... Screw it, I'll go back to chess.
